Tal y como puede verse en el buzón de correo de su casa, Jacinto Molina era dos personas al mismo tiempo. Por un lado, el hijo del peletero de la madrileña calle Postas y el joven que se quedó a las puertas de ir a los juegos olímpicos de Roma y Tokio, y por otro, Paul Naschy, el mito que firmaba autógrafos durante horas en Nueva York y Los Ángeles y al que telefoneó Steven Spielberg para pedirle copias de sus películas. Presentado por el director y guionista norteamericano Mick Garris (Masters of Horror, Apocalipsis, El Resplandor), EL HOMBRE QUE VIO LLORAR A FRANKENSTEIN (The man who saw Frankenstein cry) repasa la trayectoria de ambas facetas, entremezclándolas para explicar cómo la figura de Paul Naschy nunca hubiera existido sin las mil anécdotas que forman la biografía de Jacinto Molina. Para ello, se recuperarán parte de los miles de fotografías de su archivo personal y se visitarán lugares imprescindibles en su vida, como el pueblo cántabro de Mazcuerras, donde vivió parte de la Guerra Civil; Burgos, donde el gótico moldeó parte de la imaginería que plasmó en su cine y ciudad donde hoy está enterrado; o su propio domicilio, en el que recibió falsos paquetes bomba de la extrema derecha a causa de haber participado en cintas como Comando Txikia o El francotirador. Al mismo tiempo, compañeros de profesión como Joe Dante, John Landis, Jordi Grau o Nacho Cerdá hablan de su experiencia junto a Naschy y diseccionan su carrera, revelando anécdotas y periodos poco conocidos de la vida del cineasta.
